The imperatives of this landscape were to create a space where children could play and engage with nature, and to maximise water efficiency. No mains water is used in this garden and the laundry and toilets also run off tank water collected off the site. A grey water system also operates on the property. The native and indigenous plants and the substantial produce garden are sustained from the large billabong.

The billabong is fed entirely from water collected on the site – with innovative water capture techniques in use throughout the property. Zoning plants according to their water requirements further increases the garden’s water efficiency. The dedicated composting area and worm farm have greatly improved the soil quality.
